Crime Scene Cleanup Training

Written by LeatherNeck on Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

The crime scene cleanup industry is certainly seeing an increase in the creation of new crime scene cleanup businesses.   I would assume this is due to the downturn in the economy and the desire these new business owners have to create a better lifestyle.  In talking with many of our students, four of whom are in class today, many see their new business venture as an easy niche.  Others have obtained enough information and knowledge to understand that it’s far from easy.

I have written quite a few posts on the pros and cons of this industry.  Yet, I still receive emails with questions regarding “how much money can one make in the crime scene cleanup industry”.  Or, “how much work is available in the crime scene cleanup industry”.  I have made every attempt, in previous posts,to answer these questions.  I strongly encourage anyone looking to start a crime scene cleanup business to explore all of the posts and comments in this blog.

Now, for those of you who have taken the time to learn about the industry that you want to become a part of, please read on.

There are several companies throughout the United States that offer a wide variety of crime scene cleanup training courses.  Many such courses are conducted via the internet, some are mailed to you in the form of video tapes, while others are true hands-on, intensive and dynamic courses that teach you as much as you want to learn during a five day program.

Although I will never write anything negative about anyone or any company in this industry, I will go so far as to recommend that you invest the time and money in a course that provides both classroom and hands-on training.  Many may contend that you will learn just as much by watching a video, however I strongly disagree.  Granted, some of you may not have the time or money to travel to another state to attend a training course, however it could mean the difference between success and failure in this industry.  Again, the competition is growing each and every month.  Whereas a crime scene cleanup company several years ago may have been the only such company servicing several states, now five or six companies are servicing the same area.  Thus, it’s imperative that you are properly trained in both the service and business end of your new venture.  To start a business without the knowledge to properly run it almost always leads to a business that slowly dies.  To beat out your competitors, you must be better than your competitors.
