Unlike the security, janitorial or housing industries, the crime scene cleanup industry isn’t as well known or as popular.  When I started this blog a few years back, five or six people a month would take time out of their busy day to spend 20 or 30 seconds to review an article or two.  Certainly nothing to get excited about.  So, I resigned myself to the fact that people just didn’t care much about our industry.  Crime scene cleanup just wasn’t something that was worth spending time to read about.  As the months passed, I thought little about the blog I had started.  I didn’t write any new articles.  I didn’t check stats.  And, I certainly did nothing to promote it.

After about a year had passed, my interest was renewed.  The crime scene cleanup industry was certainly exploding with new companies.  I had more time on my hands to devote to a blog.  And, I took notice that more people were visiting the blog.  I knew this, not because I was looking at my blog website traffic, but because of the emails I was receiving.  It seemed that almost overnight people began to take notice of our industry.  Whereas in years past, no one ever asked me for advice concerning crime scene cleanup companies or the services they provided.  Now, emails were coming in quite regularly.  Day after day, I answered emails regarding:

  • A family member died several weeks ago and the body was just discovered.  Do you know of any reputable crime scene cleanup companies in Florida who can provide me with a quote?
  • I have a huge infestation of raccoons in my crawl space.  There is about six inches of feces from one end of my house to another.  Who can I call in Ohio to clean my crawl space?
  • Do you know of anyone in California that can clean the remains of a suicide?  I contacted one company, but they said it was too far away and they wouldn’t refer me to anyone else.

The CleanupBlog.com was started with the intention of helping families understand the crime scene cleanup industry and the services we provide.  Although it’s taken a few years, our blog now has over 1,200 new visitors each month.  Whether just curious or actually looking for help, the average visitor spends approximately six minutes at CleanupBlog.com and reviews 7.45 pages of information.  And, these figures don’t count the returning visitors who account for an additional 1,000 visits per month.

Twelve hundred (1,200) new monthly visitors to a blog isn’t anything worth writing home about but, it’s certainly better than what I started with!  And, in an industry where the only people who search for crime scene cleanup related websites are those who either need a job or are in need of services, 1,200 new visitors isn’t bad.

In the near future, more information will be made available through CleanupBlog.com.  As I continue to communicate with families and answer the questions they have, I feel compelled to expand my blog to include links to various resources, articles and directories.  In addition, I will be actively seeking additional authors to share their expertise, experience and recommendations to those in need of help or assistance.  That being said, if you are involved in the crime scene cleanup industry, and would like to write articles for CleanupBlog.com, please contact us.

As CleanupBlog.com continues to grow and as more people count on CleanupBlog.com for answers, I hope each visitor is able to find the resources, the information or the help he or she may be in desperate need of.

Thank you to all who continue to support this blog.
